Résumé
Cathrin Arenz, M.A., works as a project coordinator at the Department of International Politics at the University of Freiburg, and is responsible for the management of externally funded projects. She studied Social and Cultural Anthropology, Political Science, and Environmental Conservation at the Universities of Freiburg and Basel.
Since December 2009, she has been part of the BMBF-Southeast Asia studies program at the University of Freiburg as a project assistant, since August 2011 as project coordinator. Since 2014, she has additionally worked as a coordinator for externally funded projects at the Department of International Politics, for the University’s Center for Transcultural Asian Studies between 2013 and 2015, and for the Center for Medicine and Society between 2015 and 2016. She has experience in managing research programs, including coordinating project’s activities, managing the project’s funds, organizing events, preparing reports, and networking with strategic partners (both internationally and nationally). She has a good knowledge of administrative procedures at the University.
Besides her organizational and administrative skills, Mrs. Arenz has an interest in developing countries. She conducted field research in Yogyakarta and East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Her research interests include development politics with a focus on political institutions and resource policy. In this context she worked for the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Freiburg between 2005 and 2007, for the Center of International Forestry Research (CIFOR) from 2004 to 2006, for the German Development Cooperation Agency (GTZ, now GIZ) in 2008 and for the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) in 2009; since then she has focused on science management.
